Tandem paragliding in Hunza means launching from the Duikar ridge near Eagle's Nest at around 3,100m and gliding down over Karimabad, the terraced orchards, and the valley floor. On a clear day Rakaposhi (7,788m) is directly in front of you during the descent. Attabad Lake is visible to the north, the Karakoram Highway threads along the valley below.
Flights run 15 to 25 minutes in standard conditions. You are harnessed to a certified pilot throughout , no prior experience needed. The launch requires running a few steps; the landing is typically on terraced fields above Karimabad bazaar.
No experience is required. All flights are tandem, you are harnessed to a certified pilot for the entire flight. Your only job is to run a few steps on launch and enjoy the ride. The minimum age is 16 and the maximum weight limit is typically 100kg; confirm at booking if this is a concern.
The most common launch site is Duikar Hill, near Eagle's Nest viewpoint at approximately 2,900 to 3,100m above Karimabad. The flight follows the valley and typically lands on the terraced fields near Karimabad bazaar or a flat zone above the town, depending on wind conditions on the day. Raahi handles transport to the launch site and back from the landing zone.
A standard tandem flight runs 15 to 25 minutes, depending on thermal conditions. On strong thermal days pilots can extend flights to 30+ minutes. The best flying conditions are typically mid-morning (9 to 11 am) before the afternoon valley winds build. Raahi schedules your slot to coincide with the best window.
Tandem paragliding in Hunza currently costs approximately PKR 8,000 to 12,000 per person for a standard flight (prices subject to change with vendors). The cost includes the flight, all equipment, and a briefing. It does not include video/photo packages, which the pilot can offer separately at an additional cost. Raahi includes transport to/from the launch site as part of trip coordination.
Paragliding runs from April through October in Hunza. The best months are May to June and September to October when thermals are stable and visibility is clearest. July and August have stronger and less predictable afternoon winds but morning flights are usually good. Flights are subject to weather, if conditions are unsafe on your booked day, Raahi will reschedule or offer alternatives.
