About this tour

Aangan means the inner courtyard, the space inside a traditional Pakistani home where the family gathers in the evening, where tea is served, where time slows down. This tour is built around that idea. Seven days in Baltistan with three of those nights at Himmel Skardu's chalets, deep inside Shigar Valley. You will have time to walk through apricot orchards that have produced fruit for four hundred years, explore Shigar Fort (eight centuries old, one of the finest preserved heritage sites in northern Pakistan), take long drives through the side valleys most tours skip because they are not efficient, and simply sit with the landscape the way it asks to be sat with. Aangan Retreat is for guests who want their trip to feel less like a tour and more like a stay in someone's ancestral home. It is the slow heart of the Raahi catalog.
