What Raahi Provides
Raahi is not a trekking guiding company: we don't guide on the mountain. What we provide is everything that needs to happen before you start and after you finish: private 4x4 transport to the trailhead, accommodation in Skardu and at roadhead villages, permit support, equipment logistics, and a local contact who knows every valley in Baltistan.
For the mountain stages, Mubarik's network includes guides and porters with decades of experience on the Baltoro, in Hushe, and across the Karakoram. We make introductions and help you assemble the right support team for your specific route.
We also design the non-trekking parts of a Baltistan trip: the nights in Skardu before and after the walk. Many trekkers arrive a week early and explore Deosai, Shigar, and Khaplu while acclimatising. We build those stages into the itinerary as carefully as the trek itself.
Major Routes
16-22 days
Strenuous
The classic. The approach via Askole, along the Braldu River, through Paiju and Urdukas to Concordia: where K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum, and the Trango Towers form the most dramatic mountain amphitheatre on earth. Technical experience is not required but excellent fitness and altitude tolerance are.
12-16 days
Technical
The hardest route in this list. The Gondogoro La (5,585m) connects the Hushe Valley to Concordia, enabling a circuit of the Baltoro without retracing your steps. Crampons, ice axe, and experience with technical terrain required. One of the finest mountain crossings in the world for those prepared for it.
5-8 days
Moderate
A less-committed introduction to the Karakoram. The Hushe Valley leads toward K6 and K7 base camps. Trails are clear, the views are extraordinary, and you can go as far as fitness and time allow. Khaplu Palace is the perfect base before and after.
3-5 days
Moderate
Crossing Deosai National Park on foot or by horseback is a different experience from the drive-through. The plateau feels even larger on your feet. Wildlife encounters are more common. Camping on Deosai under a star-dense sky at 4,100m is something many trekkers name as their most memorable night.
FAQ
The K2 Base Camp trek via the Baltoro Glacier (16-22 days from Askole) is strenuous but does not require technical climbing skills. Good fitness, experience with multi-day trekking, and altitude tolerance are essential. The route reaches Concordia at around 4,690m. Proper acclimatisation days are built into the itinerary.
Yes. A No Objection Certificate (NOC) permit is required for the Baltoro Glacier zone. It must be arranged before departure through a licensed Pakistani trekking operator. Raahi assists with permit logistics for all treks in restricted zones.
Raahi handles everything outside the mountain stages: private 4x4 transport to trailheads, accommodation in Skardu and roadhead villages, permit support, and a local contact who knows every valley in Baltistan. For the trek itself, we connect you with experienced guides and porters through Mubarik's network. We also design the non-trekking parts of your Baltistan trip.
June to September is the main trekking season. July and August offer the most stable weather on the Baltoro. The Gondogoro La crossing is best attempted in July when snow conditions are most predictable. The Hushe Valley and Deosai crossings can be done from June to early October.
